THE OFFICIAL MED USERS GROUP DISK LIST.
Since MUG started in January this year, we have put together
a number of disks which we feel EVERY user of MED should
have in their collection. For the first time, the whole list
of disks is printed here with an in-deapth description of
each. Not many, we'll agree but it's QUALITY we're talking
about here not QUANTITY! You are bound to have a couple of
these disks... If you wish to order any, please see the TIPD
section for more details. Alternatively, read below about how
you can obtain these for far cheaper...
TOTAL IRRELEVANCE - The MED Users Group Disk Magazine.
Total Irrelevance (TI) is the disk magazine for everyone who
is uses MED or simply is interested in music on the Amiga.
It is aimed at everyone from the newcomer to the
professional. TI attempts to keep up to date with the Amiga
music `scene' while still trying to keep it's articles
intersting and varied. The main emphasis however, is on fun
and every TI has a strange twist of humour to it. Each disk
will run on ALL Amigas and contains not only articles but
numerous quality modules and a drawer of samples for your
colection. All three issues are listed below, along with a
few details about them.
Total Irrelevace Volume One - May 1993
Not very well presented, but the effort was there! The main
mistake was to put three VERY memory intensive modules on
the disk leaving little room for anything else! Still, it's
worth a look if you want to see how it all began... TI1 is
most remembered for the first Beyond The Bedroom's awful
pictures, these have to be seen to be believed!
Articles include:
- Beyond The Bedroom I
- ModSpot
- The Future of Music Programming
- OctaMED V5 news
Modules:
- Life by The Raven
- DID by Barney
- Funky Nightmare by Anon.
Total Irrelevance Volume Two - July 1993
By the second issue, we'd majorly improved on disk
presentation. It featured an updated menu system which was
spread over three pages and also the ability to change
modules without rebooting which proved very poular. The disk
contained FIVE modules and another drawer of samples, plus
more articles and a special feature on OctaMED V5 which was
just to be released...
Articles include:
- Beyond The Bedroom II
- NoSampler I
- ModSpot
- OctaMED Commands I
- PD Mod Reviews
- Memoirs of a Skint Home Recordist
- V5 Special (including a slideshow)
Modules:
- Sex, Booze, and Videogames by Trank Mast
- SpaceShip by Tom Cozzolino
- Jill and the Cruise Missiles by Peter Kwann
- Funky 5th by Dave Sullivan
- Cheryl Heaven by Andy Baxter
Total Irrelevance Volume Three - September 1993
The current issue which you are reading now! Not much to
note about this volume. The Pick and Mix library was
extended beyond belief and most of the editorial was written
in a tent whilst I was on holiday in Cornwall!
Articles include:
- NoSampler II
- OctaMED Commands II
- ModSpot
- TIPD List
- V4 Manual update
- OctaMED V5 Opinions
Modules:

FRIENDS OF PAULA - A series of quality music disks.
The trilogy of `Friends Of Paula' disks have become
`infamous' amongst members of MUG. They contain some of the
best examples of computer music ever produced. Written by
TI's resident reviewer Chris `The Raven' Wright, each disk
is jammed packed with quality MED modules, check out
`Friends Of Paula' today and we guarantee you'll want to be
one!
Friends Of Paula I
Although the disk's presentation is a little rough, the mod
quality is apparant throughout. From the upbeat `Wild and
Lonely' to the ballad `Vision of Love' this disk doesn't
need fancy graphics to impress, just close your eyes and
listen.
Modules:
The Border
Wild and Lonely
Vision of Love
Raven's Theme
Friends Of Paula II
Presentation improved and modules of increased quality make
FOPII worthy of MUG disk status, this disk is a favourite of
Teijo Kinnunen himself, as he often sends it out to people
who write to him.
Modules:
Life
Moscow
Legend
This Must Be Heaven
Friends Of Paula III - Mods from the Med
Two massive modules which take up the form of a mock concert
proformed in the mediterranean. Check out the FULL review next
issue...
`Modules':
Exhilerate
Me, You, and the Sky
Lindi's Funbags
Commotion
IVY
Chameleon Memory
Earthbound
OCTAMED DEMOS
Complete save-disabled versions of OctaMED are available for
both V4 and V5.
SAMPLE DISKS
Each sample disk takes weeks to compile and features a
specific subject. Disks are at least 99% full with samples
and provide excellent value for money.
Disk One - Drum Kit One
Over 15O drum samples from Bass Drums, to Snares and
HighHats.
Disk Two - Drum Kit Two
An excellent companion to Drum Kit One featuring Toms and
various percussion instruments. These two disks are the only
DrumKits you'll ever need!
UTILITIES DISKS
